BEFORE REQUESTING A CUSTOM DESIGN
Carved Bags offers a limited custom design service for customers looking to put their own touch on one of Andrew’s handcrafted bags.
Customisation does not mean designing an entirely new bag from scratch. Each order begins with one of the existing Carved Bags designs, with selected changes available depending on the bag and artwork requested.
Please read the following terms before submitting a custom design enquiry.
WHAT CAN BE CUSTOMISED?
All five signature Carved Bags designs can be produced in a range of available leather colours.
Selected artwork changes may also be possible. For example, where a design features an animal, Andrew may be able to create alternative imagery such as an owl or scorpion.
The options available will depend on the chosen bag and the complexity of the requested artwork.
WHAT CANNOT BE CUSTOMISED?
Custom orders are based on Andrew’s existing Carved Bags designs.
The custom design service is intended for selected changes to colours or artwork rather than the creation of a completely new bag style, construction or shape.
If a requested change is not suitable for the chosen bag, Andrew will advise before any work begins.
CUSTOM ARTWORK
Where new artwork needs to be created specifically for an order, additional design work will be required.
Custom artwork is therefore priced on request.
The price will depend on the design requested and the work required to translate the customer’s idea into artwork suitable for hand carving into leather.
DESIGN APPROVAL
All custom design requests are subject to Andrew’s review and approval.
Submitting an enquiry does not commit either the customer or Carved Bags to proceeding with the order.
Andrew will review the request and discuss what can reasonably be achieved before the order progresses.
PRICING
The final price of a custom bag will be confirmed before work begins.
Pricing may include:
- The price of the selected bag
- Any applicable colour or material options
- Additional artwork or design charges
- Any other agreed bespoke requirements
The customer will have the opportunity to review the agreed price before committing to the order.
NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT
A non-refundable deposit is required before custom design work begins.
This is important because developing bespoke artwork requires Andrew to dedicate time to designing and preparing artwork specifically for an individual customer’s order.
The deposit is intended to protect that time and will not be refunded once the agreed custom design work has commenced.
I would put this particular section inside a maroon or tan highlighted box so customers cannot easily miss it.
PRODUCTION
Every Carved Bags product is made entirely by hand using traditional leatherworking tools and techniques.
Cutting, carving, colouring, assembly and stitching are all completed manually by Andrew.
Standard bags typically take around 10 days to create, based on approximately 1–2 hours of work each day. Custom artwork may require additional work depending on its complexity.
CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS
Customers should ensure they are happy with the agreed design before work begins.
Changes requested after design or production work has started may not always be possible and may result in additional charges.
Any additional work or charges will be discussed with the customer before proceeding.
RETURNS
Because custom orders are produced specifically to an individual customer’s agreed requirements, different return conditions may apply compared with standard stock products.
This does not affect a customer’s statutory rights where an item is faulty, damaged or not as agreed.
